Pendolino performance

Period 0813 performance was down on last period with 84.1% of services arriving at destination within 10 minutes of booked time, and 95.4% of services operating. Morning Business Train performance was also slightly down on last period, with 82.3% of business trains arriving at Euston within 10 minutes of booked time. The major cause of disruption in the period were High Winds causing emergency speed restrictions to be imposed by Network Rail on 10-12 March, a de-wirement involving a Freightliner service on the 5 March, a cable fire at Stechford near Birmingham on 8 March and 2 fatalities at Harrow on the 18 and 27 March. Network Rail infrastructure performance was better than in recent months but impact from external events was particularly high. We are still working with them to improve areas of infrastructure reliability and to manage external impact on the network such as Fatalities and Bad Weather. Virgin's own performance remains good, with further improvements to our Pendolino and Voyager trains' reliability.

We are working closely with both Network Rail and our train maintenance providers, Alstom & Bombardier, to improve performance further and keep service disruption to a minimum.
